Muggy, crowded and sometimes confusing, the city compensates for this with a series of cooling, outdoor music festivals and performances. If you are looking for what to do in New York, there are a host of free and fun musical events in August, including the New York Philharmonic Orchestra performing in all five boroughs! There is even more for classical music lovers, with New York’s oldest free outdoor concert series, the Naumburg Orchestral takes place for free on Mondays and Tuesdays in Central Park.
